You know what time it is—train show haul time. In this one I’m going through what I picked up at the Melbourne Train Show, plus a stop at TRF Trains, and yeah… I came home with a few things I actually needed and a few things I absolutely did not need. Debbie scored herself a little engine pencil sharpener (and of course she somehow got a Hallmark ornament for free because she “didn’t have a quarter”). Me? I found some B&O stuff—which is rare on some tables—and I ended up wheeling and dealing on a couple Budd cars marked at 20 bucks each. I asked the guy if he’d take 20 for both and he did, so that was a win. I also grabbed some cheap rolling stock (three bucks a pop—caboose, Swift boxcar, and a Pennsy hopper) and then I did what I always do when I see Campbell kits: I bought more Campbell kits even though I’ve already got a tote full of them. I picked up the HO Freight Station #447 and the HO Grain Storage Bin #449, checked the bags (one had a DAG, one didn’t), and yep—there’s a whole lotta shingles and nut-bolt-washer detail in my future. Then at TRF Trains I grabbed replacement sanding belts, some Walthers concrete street track to test out, and styrene sheets for my build bases. I also show the cards/flyers I picked up—club info, show dates, and vendor contacts—so you can track down the same events and spots.
