In Part 2 of the Ridge Live Steamers Winter Meet 2026, I’m still out on day one walking the property and showing you the stuff you don’t always see when you’re just riding the train. I point out where the vendor area usually is, the access road and parking, and I head down into the back side of the railroad where there’s bridges, jugs of water along the way, and that tunnel area. Over here they’ve added some new things too—there’s a roundhouse with an 8-bay setup, a little turntable, maintenance buildings, plus a coaling tower and water tower (and yeah, there’s even a bird nesting in there). I also take you through the staging tracks and the “miniature city” area, and you get to see how busy it can get when trains stack up. We catch some neat equipment like the galloping goose, a diesel-electric I remember from other years, and some Boston & Maine passenger cars. There’s even a derailment and some real-time switching/traffic control chatter while they get things sorted out—this is the kind of behind-the-scenes stuff I love. I wrap it up heading back toward the entrance to meet Debbie (she was running her “Debbie Cam” too), and we call it a day with more footage coming from Saturday.
