We headed out to a train show on February 21st, 2026—73° already—down in Venice, Florida. This was the first Real Rail show at the Venice Community Center, because they moved it out of the Bradenton area when the venue price got too high. They’re still charging $13 a person (Debbie and I would’ve been $26), but we had comp tickets, so we were feeling pretty good rolling in. Once inside, it was a nice-sized show with layouts tucked around the halls—G scale, Lego, and plenty of kid-friendly stuff—plus lots of tables to dig through. I walked the floor, talked with folks (always fun running into YouTube viewers), and checked out everything from tote-lot bargains and trees for a couple bucks, to bigger ticket items like large scale power and passenger sets. I also pointed you to Real Rail’s site and their Facebook page, and gave a quick shout about the Special Needs Model Railroad Association they sponsor—because I like seeing the hobby be welcoming to everybody. On the way back, Debbie and I stopped at Gulfcoast Model Railroad & Hobby Shop in Sarasota to grab some much-needed workbench supplies, and then we kept the day going from there.
