About This Video

I’ve been busy changing things around in the studio and the train room (yep—moved the computers and even my streaming setup right next to the workbench), and then we headed out for a train show haul from Venice, Florida. Real Rail used to do these shows in Bradenton, but they moved over to Venice, and you’ll hear what folks were saying about the new venue being a little tight. Either way, I always seem to find at least one or two items at every show—and this one had a deal I still can’t believe. The big score was a stack of Oxford vehicles for five bucks each—1950s stuff that fits perfect with what I’m doing. I grabbed a 1957 Oldsmobile convertible, a 1955 Buick Century, and a ’58 Chevy Impala (and I like the ’58 because my dad had a blue one). I also picked up a ballast spreader to try something new, a caboose interior kit, and some pico LEDs from Zitnik’s because I’ve got a lot of buildings to light up. After the show we hit Gulfcoast Model Railroad & Hobby Shop in Sarasota—one of my go-to spots for scratchbuilding supplies—where I loaded up on Northeastern scale lumber and snagged a couple kits, including a Campbell HO crane and a Horseshoe Meadow Depot kit that was priced way better than what I’ve seen online.
