I kicked off our VAMP Tuesday Vintage Party live and then we literally went on a little field trip—walking right down to Star City Thrift to see what tiny treasures we could dig up before my battery died (yes, I forgot my charger at home… classic). I started out by showing a few goodies I had on my brain for upcoming sales—St. Patrick’s Day pieces, ephemera, and even a Holt Howard bride candle holder—then we hit the shelves to see what was still left in their holiday section. Inside Star City Thrift, we looked at all the fun seasonal stuff (Lennox Easter eggs, Longaberger baskets, bunnies galore), and I ran a bunch of items live: Portmeirion placemats/coasters, brass candlesticks, a gorgeous colorful afghan that would make the BEST throw or wall hanging, Westmoreland milk glass, an Italian alabaster stone “dinosaur egg,” and a Shawnee pig planter. We also found some really cool oddballs—like an Egyptian-ish brutalist fish bracelet and a Coca-Cola Y2K seal. My biggest takeaway: keep your eyes open in every nook and cranny, because the best stuff is usually hiding in plain sight (and if nobody buys that afghan… I’m buying it).
