This morning was one of those “let me get YouTube situated” kind of lives—caffeine in hand, hair doing whatever it wants, and a random song stuck in my head (Little Einsteins… why are we like this?). Djilly popped in from Canada and we did what we do best: vintage chat, real-life check-ins, and talking through the behind-the-scenes stuff that actually matters if you’re thrifting, reselling, or just hanging out with us. We talked about a brand new antique mall opening (Starlight Antique Mall in Seymour, Indiana) and how powerful social media can be for promoting booths and building hype—because when you show the process, people get invested. Then we got into a really good discussion off a constructive comment: should resellers say what they paid (especially at the bins) and then turn around and sell it for a lot more? I shared a bins example—$1.99/lb, a cow blanket that took me FOUR treatments to clean—and we broke down the reality: time, gas, effort, cleaning, storing, and the value of the work. Big takeaway: buyers and sellers look at the same item with different eyes. In a live sale, don’t “anchor” the buyer’s brain with your cost—sell the value, tell them how to use it, and don’t leave dead air.
