In this video I’m talking about Sonic Racing CrossWorlds on Nintendo Switch 2, and yeah—overall, it’s a good port. No, it’s not as good as the PlayStation 5 version (it’s missing some post-processing and a few effects), but it’s a huge step up from the original Switch version. The first thing you notice is the faster loading, and once you’re in a race it honestly reminds me of something like a PS4 Pro-style experience, but running at 60 frames per second. What I really like is that it doesn’t feel compromised on Switch 2. When I’m playing, I’m not sitting there thinking “man, I should’ve bought this on PS5” or “I should’ve got it on Xbox Series X.” It feels like a complete version of the game that fits the Switch 2. I also touch on one of the more interesting gameplay ideas here—the rival system—where you don’t just have to get first place, you mainly have to beat your rival, which changes how you approach a race. My takeaway: if you’re on Switch 2, this is good enough to feel confident in your purchase.
