In this video I talk about an interesting post I found on the PS4 Reddit where people are pushing for Resident Evil Requiem to come to PS4 and PS4 Pro. The big reason this is even a conversation is because Capcom put out an official user survey (it’s in Japanese) and the questions straight up highlight PS4 in multiple spots. Stuff like: why you haven’t bought Requiem yet (because it’s not on the console you own), and what would make you buy it if it released on a console you own—then they list PS4. To me, that looks like Capcom gathering data to see if a port is actually worth doing. I also get into the “what if” side of it. If a PS4 version happens, you already know Digital Foundry would be ready to compare PS4 vs Switch 2, and the PlayStation and Nintendo folks would be going at it in the comments. Personally, I doubt it happens at this point, but I’m still watching it because the survey is a real signal. And if it did happen, it could even matter for the rumored PS6 handheld since it’s supposed to be backwards compatible with PS4 games—I’d be curious how Requiem would look on PS4 Pro and even the base PS4.
