Why I'm terrified of the next generation of gaming

If you thought the price hikes ended here, the future's not looking good either. The next generation of game consoles is shaping up to be downright frightening—not because of the tech, but because of the skyrocketing prices. With the PlayStation 5 Pro costing over $700, the Nintendo Switch 2 over $150 more than it's predecessor, and the Xbox Series X topping out at $730, gaming is quickly becoming a luxury rather than a pastime. What was once a $300–$400 investment now rivals the price of a high-end PC or even a rent payment. For many gamers, the most intimidating part of the next-gen experience won’t be the how time consuming the incredible games will be—it’ll be the price tag.
