I love my ROG Xbox Ally, and a huge reason is the audio—comfort, access to games, and that sound stage are just incredible. The Steam Deck gives me two out of those three. You guys know me, I love my Steam Deck, but the speakers are just not where it’s at, especially once you’ve experienced better spatial awareness on something like the Ally. So in this video, I’m breaking down the simplest way I’ve found to massively upgrade Steam Deck audio without killing portability: the KZ AXAS IEMs. I’ve been using the KZ AXAS as my go-to Steam Deck audio upgrade because they’re compact, wired (standard 3.5mm), and affordable—under $40, closer to $30 depending on sales. The sound is the real star: full and rich, but still clear and detailed. A lot of headphones go mushy or way too bass heavy, but these keep lows controlled, mids clear for dialogue, and highs clean without being harsh. The end result is better immersion and less fatigue, plus you don’t have to worry about charging anything. For me, they help “complete” the Steam Deck experience—OLED visuals + comfort + audio that finally hangs with the competition.
