The Steam Deck isn’t new anymore, but somehow it keeps getting more and more favored—and right now that makes perfect sense because the Steam Deck LCD is down to $319, the lowest price it’s ever been. In this video I keep it straight to the point out of respect for your time: after nearly a year of owning it, it’s honestly the best thing I’ve spent money on in the last year, and I want to explain exactly why the value is so ridiculous at this price. I set expectations up front: the LCD Deck isn’t your “newest AAA game beater,” and it’s not a Windows-first handheld. It’s Linux with Proton, which means some multiplayer games with kernel-level anti-cheat just aren’t going to work. But if you understand that going in, the Deck absolutely shines everywhere else—it’s my backlog annihilator, an emulation monster, and one of the best all-in-one cloud gaming devices ever made. SteamOS is fast, clean, controller-first, and avoids the bloat and annoyances I can’t stand on Windows handhelds. Add in Valve’s constant updates, the ergonomics, trackpads that are actually useful, and access to basically your whole Steam library, and at $319 there’s just nothing brand-new under $400 that competes with this kind of turnkey value.
