Gaming is getting expensive across the board—PC parts, consoles, accessories, even online services like PlayStation Plus and Game Pass. In this video I break down why handheld gaming doesn’t necessarily have to follow that same “gaming is a luxury now” trend, and why affordable handheld options make more sense than ever going into 2026. For me, it’s also a life thing: I don’t always have time to sit at a desk or in the living room for hours, so handhelds have gone from a “secondary device” to my main way of playing. I cover three budget-friendly paths that still let you play modern, relevant games without a compromised experience: the Switch Lite for the most pocketable mainstream option with access to basically the entire Switch library and cheap used game deals; the Logitech G Cloud as a lightweight, ergonomic cloud/remote-play machine with insane 10–12 hour battery life (as long as you shop sales or used); and the ELO Vagabond as a super comfortable phone controller that can turn the phone you already own into a legit all-in-one gaming setup for mobile, remote play, and even emulation.
