Is this 80% keyboard the right pick for your setup? Royal Kludge RK C87affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3NJU2oA The Royal Kludge RK C87 is a magnetic hall effect compact keyboard that quietly surprised me. It’s an 80% layout that keeps all the keys I actually use, saves desk space, and still works great for both gaming and everyday typing. While I do miss a numpad and a dedicated volume knob, the overall experience here is extremely solid — especially if you want something clean, modern, and office-friendly. In this video, I break down what it’s like to actually live with the RK C87. From its unique sound profile that sits somewhere between thocky and creamy, to how satisfying it feels to type on, this keyboard strikes a great balance between performance and practicality. It’s responsive, comfortable for long sessions, and quiet enough for work or school environments. I also cover customization, which is one of the RK C87’s biggest strengths. It’s hot-swappable, easy to tweak with different keycaps, RGB settings, and macros, and the Hall Effect rapid trigger switches with adjustable actuation make it excellent for gaming. Even though it’s wired, Royal Kludge included smart touches like a hidden cable channel and a USB-C to USB-A cable for a clean desk setup. If you’re looking for a compact keyboard that doesn’t scream “gamer” but still performs like one, this might be worth checking out.
