Some people chase high-fidelity audio by pairing their IEMs with a separate portable DAC on their phone, tablet, or laptop. In this video, I reviewed something that tries to kill that whole setup: the Hidizs ST2 Pro Nebula—an in-ear monitor with a built-in DAC inside the USB-C plug. I unboxed it, checked what’s inside (braided cable, multiple silicone tips, and a USB-A to USB-C adapter), then I went straight to the important parts: design, comfort, DAC features, and of course, sound. Design-wise, my first impression was a bit generic, but the silver-plated aluminum alloy faceplate on a transparent resin shell looks clean and premium, especially since you can see the internals. Comfort is solid—7g per earpiece and I had no discomfort even after long listening sessions. The standout is the ESS ES9281AC Pro DAC/amp in the plug with LED codec indicators (PCM/hi-res/DSD/MQA), plus it works across Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. Just a heads up: the plug can get warm over time. For sound, it’s bass-forward and punchy—great if you’re a bass head—but busy, fast tracks can get muddy and some details can get buried. At around $60 / ₱3,200, I think it’s worth it versus buying an IEM + DAC separately, especially if you want a clean plug-and-play setup without extra dongles dangling from your phone.
