About This Video

PowerToys just got a massive update, and it added something I honestly didn’t expect: a built-in dock for Windows 11. In this video I show you how to get PowerToys 0.98 (Microsoft Store or GitHub), enable the new “Dock Preview” inside Command Palette, and get a clean dock on your desktop in under 2 minutes. You can pin your favorite apps, add shortcuts like Windows Settings and Clipboard History, search the web, and even keep a live system monitor (CPU, memory, internet, GPU) right on the dock. I also go through the customization that actually makes this feel “real” instead of basic: moving items between the left/middle/monitor sections, editing the layout, and changing the dock position (top, bottom, left, right). If you put it at the bottom, you can even auto-hide the Windows taskbar and basically replace it with this dock. Then I show the appearance tweaks—theme mode, transparency/material, and background options—plus a quick look at making Command Palette itself look better with opacity and materials like transparent/mica. If you want a cleaner setup that’s still practical, this is a really solid free upgrade.
