Samsung just launched their browser on Windows and I had to try it. Coming from Chrome, I wasn't expecting much — but there are a few things this browser does that Chrome literally cannot. Cross-device sync, built-in ad blocker, AI features powered by Perplexity, and it's completely free. Is it a Chrome killer? About This Video

I’ve used Chrome for years and honestly never really thought about switching, but Samsung just dropped Samsung Internet on Windows, so I had to try it. In this video I install it, poke around the settings, and figure out what it’s actually based on (yep, it’s Chromium). I also compare it to Chrome where it matters—like updates (it was a few versions behind on Chromium when I tested), extensions support (it redirects to the Chrome Web Store), and the general UI. First impression: it looks clean, and I genuinely prefer the Samsung icon over Chrome’s because Chrome looks too flat in my opinion. The big wins here are the built-in ad blocker (Chrome doesn’t ship with that by default), the privacy dashboard that shows trackers/ads blocked, and the customization on the new tab page—widgets like weather/clock plus the ability to set your own wallpaper (I matched mine to my desktop and it looked sick). There’s also a sidebar/side panel with options like adding sites and syncing with your Samsung devices, but I turned it off because I like a cleaner layout. Samsung’s “Browsing Assist” AI features (summarize/translate) require a Samsung account, and I couldn’t get it working during my test—though it’s supposed to use Perplexity. My takeaway: if you’re already in the Samsung ecosystem, it’s definitely worth checking out; otherwise Chrome already does most of this.
