In this review I’m breaking down the Marshall Willen II after a couple weeks of real testing—build, sound, battery, and whether it’s actually worth the $130 retail price (or the sale price I grabbed it for). Right out of the box it feels premium with that textured, leather-like wrap, and I love that it can stand up on its own. The control setup is clean, and that joystick control for volume/track/pause is super intuitive and matches the whole retro Marshall vibe. You also get IP67 dust/water resistance and a discreet, stretchy strap on the back that’s actually useful without ruining the design. Sound-wise, this is where the Willen II surprised me. Marshall’s 75 Hz–20 kHz claim felt legit in my testing, and the tuning stayed impressively balanced—even when I pushed it. I was hitting 103 dB+ at max volume, and my frequency analysis showed a beautifully flat response curve for a speaker this small, which is rare. Battery was strong too: I got about 14+ hours playing mostly around 75–100% volume, plus quick charge that can give around 5.5 hours from 20 minutes. My takeaway: if you want accurate, clean sound and premium build in a compact speaker, this can absolutely make sense—but if you want max loudness and bass-per-dollar, something like a JBL Clip 5 might be the smarter buy.
