What’s up, TM Nation—In this video I put two of my favorite premium ANC earbuds head-to-head: the brand new Sony WF-1000XM6 and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra (Gen 2). I’ve owned the Bose since launch and used them pretty much daily, but once I grabbed the XM6 a few days ago, they became my exclusive daily drivers. I tested both in real life—walks outside on landscaping day, gym sessions, calls in noisy spots, and even falling asleep with them in—because that’s the stuff that actually exposes the wins and the compromises. Sony is making bold claims with the new QN3e processor and 8 mics, and I’ll keep it real: the XM6 ANC is excellent. I can run podcasts and music at moderate volume with cars and lawnmowers around me and still catch every word. Bose is still flagship-level too, and I love how smooth their adaptive transitions are—at the gun range it felt like a personal sound engineer managing the chaos in real time. From there I break down comfort (foam vs silicone + wax guards), sound (Sony’s balanced tuning + insane EQ tools vs Bose’s V-shape + limited 3-band EQ), call quality (Bose edges it), battery (Sony clearly wins), and app features/value. My bottom line: Sony is for best-in-class ANC, customization, and battery; Bose is for strong performance at a better price, simpler app, and excellent calls.
