In this video I’m giving you a straight user’s point-of-view review of the FIFINE AM8 ProT — the newer “bigger brother” to the original AM8 — and I’ll be real with you: after testing it, I was honestly shocked at how much value FIFINE packed into this thing. It’s a hybrid USB + XLR mic, so you can plug it straight into your PC now, and upgrade later to an interface (like the FIFINE SC8) when you’re ready. You get real-time monitoring, onboard gain control, tap-to-mute with RGB feedback, and a screen that’s way more responsive and intuitive than the original AM8. I also break down the stuff I don’t love, because I’m sponsored but I’m still gonna speak my mind. The big knob has some wiggle and the mute press feels mushy, and the included spring-style boom arm can get creaky if you’re the type that moves your mic around a lot. Sound-wise, the AM8 Pro does come in a little better than the original (especially on XLR), but if you already own the AM8, I wouldn’t upgrade — I’d save up for the Tank 1 or Tank 6 because they’re just on another level. If you’re on a budget and want that USB/XLR flexibility plus a clean look with RGB, though, the AM8 ProT is a banger.
