I’ve been gone because life hit all at once: I got sick again, my whole family got sick, we lost our in-home babysitter, my wife started working again to stack money for a Hawaii family reunion, and our rental company is basically forcing chaos because they ignored a busted door seal until the kitchen floor started rotting. Hard to stream or record when you’re sick and somebody’s ripping up your house. I also finally said the company name I hinted at before: Elgato. They reached out to send me the Low Profile Pro boom arm and a Stream Deck Plus—probably because I’ve got popular videos where I straight up said I don’t like their low profile arm and I think a lot of their stuff is overpriced for what you actually get. I told them I’m cool doing the review, but I need creative freedom: if it’s sponsored, that’s an ad and they can review it; if it’s a review, they don’t get to see it before it goes live. After I sent that, they went quiet. Main takeaway: I’m not trading honesty for gear, and I’m not pretending overpriced creator tech is “innovation” just because a logo is on it.
