About This Video

In this video I’m checking out the Viltrox P12 RGBWY Pixel Tube Lights (2-pack), and the big thing you need to know is these aren’t your normal “one color across the whole tube” RGB sticks. These are pixel tube lights, which means the tube is split into 12 controllable zones. So you can do color chase, gradients, moving patterns, and cinematic motion lighting that looks way more dynamic than standard RGB tubes—especially for background ambience, accent lighting, portraits, and B-roll. I walk through the controls (on-body buttons, the Viltrox Link app, and even DMX if you’re that person), battery life, and how I actually use them in my small room setup. The colors are vibrant, the RGBWY mixing gives you richer color and cleaner whites, and the 2500K–8500K range makes them usable for both creative looks and more natural lighting. They’re also magnetic and have mounting points, so they’re easy to slap on something like a fridge or throw on a stand. My main gripe is the app. It can take forever to open and truly sync, and sometimes you have to close it and reopen it to reconnect. My tip: build a bunch of presets up front so it’s more “set it and forget it,” because the lights themselves are really good—software is the weak link.
