About This Video

In this video, I’m sharing my 2026 hobby lineup as we lean into what I’m calling our “year of the analog.” I’m definitely guilty of picking up a lot of hobbies (maybe too many), but my goal this year is to actually enjoy them—spread them out across the months—so I’m not obsessing over just one thing and ignoring the rest. For me, hobbies are one of the biggest ways to do a real digital detox: less relying on my phone, more physical formats, and more intentional, mindful slow living. I walk through the five main hobbies I’m focusing on: reading (because I didn’t finish a single book in 2025 and that is not sitting right with me), crocheting (new to me, but I want to work up to crocheting a sweater even though it freaks me out), and journaling—specifically keeping a commonplace notebook inside my Paper Republic setup. I also want to prioritize sketching this year: messy, low-pressure, back-to-basics art that I can do anytime. And once spring/summer hits, I’m getting back into gardening now that I’m headed into 2026 with a fully remote job, which gives me the slow, gradual rhythm my garden needs. As a bonus hobby, I’m also shifting into Y2K digital photography with a thrifted old-school camera—still intentional, still mindful, just less phone-dependent.
