About This Video

I filmed this on the very first official day of spring—and it was 40° and honestly felt even colder—so we started with a much-needed hot latte (toasted marshmallow almond milk, and it was actually pretty good). In this video, I’m giving you my personal crash course in seasonal slow living: the practice of appreciating and celebrating the season you’re currently in, even when you’re a little skeptical of it. And yes, I’m being completely honest here—spring isn’t naturally one of my favorite seasons. I love fall and winter, and spring tends to bring up that weird, icky feeling in my stomach because it’s basically the personification of change. To work through that, I show you exactly how I build a ā€œspring syllabus,ā€ aka a seasonal bucket list, inside my journaling ecosystem. I start with one foundational question: What do I love about spring, what can I appreciate about it, and what can I respect about it? From there, I turn my answers (sunshine, gardening season, longer days, peachy sunsets, spring recipes, farmers markets) into tangible action items—like starting seeds, going to the park after work, taking my coffee outside, and making one springy dessert and one springy dinner dish. I also share a very real garden check-in (it’s a hot mess right now), because slow living is still real life—and we can build our lists as we go.
