In this cozy hobby vlog, I’m kicking off a 2026 challenge for myself: crocheting more, and actually sticking with it. I only started crocheting for the first time in November 2025 with one very specific goal—making a Sophie hood (because the Etsy one I wanted had a two-month shipping window, and I was like… I could probably learn this in that time). I did it, I was so proud, and then I immediately stopped because I didn’t have a next project lined up. This year, I’m focusing on hobbies and spending more time offline, so I decided to start big (and slightly unhinged): I’m crocheting myself a sweater. I share the yarn haul Ian got me for Valentine’s Day (100% wool in a charcoaly steel gray), how I chose natural fibers, and how I used one of my favorite Gap oversized sweaters as the “framework” for measurements (23" width, 23" length, 18" sleeves). I also talk through why this is going to take way longer than I expected—hello, 4.5mm hook—and why this video is really the prep + first steps. It’s intimidating now that I’ve started, but I’m still so excited to keep going and turn this into a multi-part series.
