In this video I’m checking out the Squier Classic Vibe ’70s Thinline Telecaster, and yeah—she’s cheap, but she plays like she’s not. I run through the specs as I see them: natural “soft maple” body (whatever that means, it looks pretty), string-through hardtail with 6 saddles, a 3-way switch with volume/tone, and two Fender-designed Wide Range humbuckers. It’s a semi-hollow Thinline with an F-hole that actually looks clean, and the inside is finished nice too. You also get a 21-fret, narrow-tall setup with surprisingly solid fretwork—no sprout, even in super dry weather—plus vintage-style tuners, a bone nut, and a lacquer neck (and yes, it’ll crack beautifully over time). Then I get into what matters: how it feels and how it sounds. The neck is a comfy C-shape—classic Fender thickness without being a baseball bat—and it’s light, with only a tiny bit of neck dive (a rough leather strap fixes that immediately). Tone-wise, those Wide Range pickups are the star: clearer and more “wide spectrum” than a standard PAF, great for clean, low gain, and mid gain rock stuff, and they keep the guitar’s character when you crank the gain. I demo it through my Soldano Astro-20 with my Helix in the loop, and at the end I land around a solid 8/10—only knocked a bit because semi-hollow isn’t really “my” thing, even though it absolutely rips for the right player.
