In this video I grab a Squier Classic Vibe 70’s Jaguar and put it through the paces to see if it can do that “sound RAD” thing without the boutique price tag. I run through the specs quick—24" short scale, poplar body, maple neck with a bound Indian laurel board and block inlays, vintage-style tuners, and two body-mounted Alnico single coils. Then we get into the Jaguar weirdness: the lead vs rhythm circuit, the on/off pickup switches, and that “strangle switch” bass cut that’s basically a two-position, no-in-between kind of deal. Tone-wise, I plug it straight into my Soldano Astro-20, with my Line 6 Helix in the loop for a touch of reverb (and a boost if I need it), and I demo clean, overdrive, and rhythm stuff. This guitar has that literal “jangle,” and it’s a big part of the vibe—especially for punky chords, alt rock, shoegaze, post-punk, and that whole Midwest emo world. My main gripe is that the behind-the-bridge jangle can make harmonics and feedback a little unruly for lead/high-gain situations unless you mute it. Overall, it’s a super solid intermediate “upgrade guitar” with excellent fit and finish, and I gave it a 7.8—great guitar, just not my personal forever guitar.
