About This Video

In this video I take a Squier Sonic Stratocaster HT H (hardtail, single bridge humbucker) and put it through the exact kind of “regular person” test I care about: does it play decent, does the hardware work, and does it actually sound good without a pile of excuses. I grabbed this one because it was shell pink (I’ve always wanted to play a pink guitar), but I stayed interested because for an inexpensive guitar, it’s shockingly solid. You get a volume, a tone, a top-loading hardtail bridge, 21 frets, a maple neck/fretboard, and basic import tuners—nothing fancy, but not much to screw up either. My biggest takeaway: the bridge humbucker doesn’t suck. At this price point, that’s not common. It’s a bright, medium-output pickup with real clarity and string separation, and the tone knob is actually useful here if the brightness is a little too “ice picky” for you—just roll it back and take the hair off it. I also talk about the tuners, because import tuners can go sideways fast, and these felt even and held tune. I run quick tones (clean to heavier punk/metal stuff), mention my one small gripe (muting behind the nut/strat-style noise), and wrap it up with who I’d recommend it to: beginners, a cheap beater guitar, or a killer mod platform. I gave it a solid 7.9/10—good 7.9—because what it does, it does really well.
