Packing for sun in my 50s is very different to how I used to pack, and in this video I’m showing you exactly what I’m bringing for 8 nights on a Caribbean cruise—and what I’m not bringing anymore. My focus now is protecting my skin, keeping things simple, and still looking chic (obviously). I also use long-haul flights to my advantage: I basically turn the plane into a mini skincare session so I don’t land looking like a prune. Micellar water, a mist, face oil, eye cream, hand cream—reapply, reapply, reapply. Yes, I’m that weirdo on the plane, and no, I’m not embarrassed. Once I land, it’s all about being intentional. I don’t do a complicated maximalist routine on holiday, but I do take cleansing seriously—heat, sweat, sunscreen and salt water build up fast, so I always double cleanse. My skincare is “no experiments,” just staples I know my skin loves, plus a couple of calming toner pads in case I overheat or go red. I also talk through how I handle sunscreen (I bring options because no one SPF does everything), minimal makeup for hot weather, simple hair care, and the biggest shift of all: clothing that’s easy, breezy, comfortable, and rewearable. And then there’s the stuff I care about more than ever now—sleep and staying on track. Menopause changed the game: if I don’t sleep, my skin, mood and energy fall apart. So I’m packing the sleep essentials that actually make a difference, plus a compact resistance band so I can do a bit of strength work without overthinking it.
