If you’re an intermediate or advanced language learner, this is the mistake I don’t want you to make: skipping feedback. Once you reach that level, you can keep “studying” for hours and still plateau, because it’s really easy (especially when you’re learning at home) to not notice your mistakes, not work on them, and not challenge yourself with harder material. Without a class or people around you to speak with, you can end up practicing the same patterns over and over—without realizing what’s actually wrong. In this video I share a couple simple ways to build feedback into your routine so you keep improving. One option is Tandem, where you can find a language partner for free, send audio messages, and even plan calls with native speakers who can correct you. The other thing I highly recommend is italki—I used it constantly at the beginning of my Italian learning when I was living in Los Angeles and couldn’t find anyone to practice with. Tutors can be super affordable (I’ve seen sessions as low as $5), and having a weekly (or twice-weekly) session keeps you accountable. If you feel like you’re plateauing, adding real speaking + correction might be the shift you need.
