In this video I show a quick, stupid-effective way to make a simple synth lead line feel way more alive using MIDI FX (VFX Script) in FL Studio. I start with a basic lead over a beat, then I run the MIDI through two of my VFX scripts back-to-back: first my Harmonizer, then my Harp script, and only then into Serum. The Harmonizer is set to a random mode so every time I hit the same note, it can spit out a different four-voice harmony—instant variation without rewriting the part. After that, the Harp script turns each of those voices into its own little crescendo of fast-triggered notes, which is why things get shiny/expressive really fast (and why your polyphony can explode). I talk about keeping the velocity multipliers under 100% so the harmonies don’t overwhelm the main line, and I show how to avoid CPU pain by capping polyphony (I recommend 8) and using “good” quality. One important gotcha: the Harp script introduces delay because it plays the crescendo before the target note, so I offset my MIDI pattern (in my case, 1/16th) to compensate. I also demo flipping the Harp direction downward for a clicky, zappy, laser-ish edge, and I’m a big fan of pairing that with multiband delay.
