Keymod, my 1st VFX Script just received a v1.1 update, with 2 new randomization modes & more organized UI! KeyMod now contains 2 new Relative Randomization modes for altering your velocity: Relative %: Multiplier randomization based on incoming velocity, which results in bigger differences in higher velocity, with smaller differences the lower the velocity. Relative +/-: Offset randomization based on incoming velocity which results in consistent results across all velocity ranges Keymod also went through a UI overhaul, with each velocity modifier in it's own section. The order of these sections is also the order that these velocity modifiers are applied in. In this video I’m showing an update I made to my first FL Studio VFX script, KeyMod — now at v1.1. The script is basically my little “MIDI helper” for quickly shifting pitch (octaves/semitones) and then doing a bunch of velocity shaping on the notes you’re playing. The big headline is two new velocity randomization modes, plus a UI overhaul that makes the velocity stuff way more organized and predictable. I break down the new layout where velocity is split into three sections in the exact order it gets applied: velocity randomization first, then multiplication/base offset, and finally thresholds. Absolute randomization is the old behavior (wild, 0–100%), but now you can tame it with min/max thresholds. The new Relative % mode multiplies the incoming velocity, so it’s more subtle and “musical” at normal velocities, but it barely moves the needle if your input velocity is super low. That’s why I added Relative +/-: it offsets by a fixed amount regardless of the incoming velocity, so even quiet MIDI can still get meaningful variation. At the end, I show how this randomness actually helps inside a song: static MIDI starts feeling like a real player. And the coolest part is if you render the track multiple times, you’ll get different results each time — imperfections, accents, and movement that don’t sound like an 8-bar loop copy-pasted forever.
