In this video I’m demoing my first FL 2025 VFX Script: KeyMod. I called it KeyMod because it basically mirrors that MIDI keyboard “menu” vibe—quick pitch transposition (semitones + octave) and a much deeper way to shape velocity without menu-diving inside your keyboard. The whole point is to let me customize how velocity behaves so I can actually use velocity-sensitive patches the way I want, whether I’m sequencing or playing live. I walk through the core controls: pitch transpose, octave transpose, then the velocity section—base offset, multiplier, min/max limits, and a randomize button that picks a new velocity between my min/max every time I hit a note. I show it on a simple Serum bass where velocity drives distortion and a low-pass filter, then on a chord synth where velocity opens filters, so you can hear how “human” it gets when the same MIDI notes stop hitting the exact same intensity every time. For live playing, I explain why offset and multiplier are the real lifesavers: my MIDI keyboard often feels like it guesses the middle range, so I use KeyMod to force softer layers (like felt piano) or push everything louder without losing the ability to still play quietly when I want.
