In this birth vlog, I’m taking you along for Baby #2—my *positive* (but extremely intense) labor and delivery with a gender surprise at the end. I started having contractions around 12 a.m. and tried to do what I always aim for: stay calm, keep my body relaxed, breathe through it, and labor at home as long as I could. I was literally doing laundry because I did not want to come home with a fresh new baby and still have chores staring at me. I also had a “bloody show” and what felt like leaking fluid, so I knew it was really happening. Once we got to the hospital, everything went rapid-fire. I was so calm the receptionist didn’t believe I was in labor… until they checked me and I was already 7 cm. My epidural didn’t work (again), my contractions were “coupling,” and baby’s position wasn’t ideal, which had everyone watching baby’s heart rate closely. I was praying hard—like, “God please meet me in this delivery room right now”—because I truly did not want a C-section. At 10 cm, they broke my water and the pain went from 10 to 100, but the Lord carried me through. I focused, pushed carefully because I was terrified of tearing, and then… she was here. I was right—I had a girl. Her name is Everly (aka Ever), and I’m just so grateful it’s over and we’re all safe.
