If your hip pain makes it hard to walk, climb stairs, or even put on your pants, stretching alone may not be the answer. I’m Nathan, your occupational therapist from Skills and Wellness, and in this video I’ll show you why most hip pain after 60 is often caused by weakness and poor hip stability, not just tight muscles. That’s why many people keep stretching… but still feel pain every time they walk. This routine is different. Instead of forcing flexibility, we focus on: ✔ improving hip stability ✔ activating the glutes and pelvic muscles ✔ reducing pressure on your hips, knees, and lower back ✔ helping you walk with more confidence and less pain If you’ve been dealing with: • hip pain when walking • hip pain climbing stairs • pain putting on pants or lifting your leg • stiffness after sitting • unstable walking or short steps this routine is designed for you. Inside this video, I’ll guide you through: • A pull–push hip reset to calm painful muscles • Hip marches to improve leg lifting and walking • Seated hip rotations for safer mobility • Glute activation exercises to stabilize your pelvis These are the same types of exercises I use with patients who thought they needed injections or surgery—but started moving better once their hip stabilizers finally turned back on. One of my patients, Ivy, struggled just putting on her jeans because lifting her leg caused sharp hip pain. But after consistently practicing these movements, not only did her hip improve—her back and knees felt better too. Why? Because when your hips become stronger and more stable, your body stops overloading the joints around them. This routine can help: ✔ reduce hip pain naturally ✔ improve walking and balance ✔ increase hip strength and control ✔ reduce stress on your knees and lower back If you followed along, comment “hips” so I know you trained with me today. On the Skills and Wellness channel, my goal is to help you stay consistent with your therapy at home so you can move better, feel stronger, and stay independent longer. Consistency is the key. Never give up. Share this with someone struggling with hip pain—it might help them walk comfortably again. #hippain #hippainrelief #seniorhealth #hipmobility #glutes #physicaltherapy #occupationaltherapy #seniorfitness #mobility #homeexercise ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CONNECT WITH SKILLS AND WELLNESS: Recommended Therapy Items:https://amzn.to/4nzDAn7 Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbgzVvvr0hwKFeLBnczqg7w/join Exercises for Seniors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgIVMCnlGsQ&list=PLvSelbjivxk3BnHT2Je8aSBnkwlucnCkH&pp=gAQB Stroke Exercises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHii94MWaY4&list=PLvSelbjivxk1HbpmmasBZAQHi2IElTGz2&pp=gAQB Parkinson's Disease Exercises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUHNNhn0MCI&list=PLvSelbjivxk1COV65rAbOORH9W73n2Vru&pp=gAQBiAQB Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/skillsandwellness/ ================================= About Skills and Wellness Welcome to Skills and Wellness, your personal guide to Occupational Therapy.
