Day 8 of doing the same exercises I give to my patients. Today’s focus was bed yoga, or in this case, couch yoga — a gentle mobility routine designed to reduce stiffness, loosen tight hips, improve spinal movement, and help the body feel better without needing to get on the floor. We started with seated neck and trap stretches, then moved into a series of bed-based mobility exercises including: hip side-to-side figure 4 stretch knee hugs active knee flexion and extension knee hugs with circles pelvic bridging baby cobra full cobra child’s pose cat and camel pigeon pose happy baby This routine is especially helpful for people who: wake up stiff have tight hips deal with low back pain want a gentler way to improve mobility need exercises they can do on a couch or bed The goal was not just stretching. The goal was helping the body move better. Because when your hips, back, and spine move better, everyday life gets easier — getting out of bed, walking, bending, standing up, and simply feeling more comfortable in your own body. These are the same kinds of movements I use with patients who need a safe and simple way to improve mobility at home.
