Ever since my wife started working from home, her standing desk slowly turned into a full-on rat’s nest of cables—and it got so bad the desk basically couldn’t even go up and down anymore. In this video I break her whole setup down and start with a clean slate, because that’s honestly the easiest way to get real results. I show you exactly how I went from “what a mess” to a clean, functional standing desk setup that actually looks good from every angle. My goal was simple: set it up once, keep it easy to add or subtract gear later, and get as close as possible to a “one cable” workstation. I map out monitor and arm placement first (she’s running two LG ultrawides), mount a power strip under the desk, then route everything using J-channel raceways, 3M tape, Velcro, straps, and sleeving to clean up the visible runs. I also add a vertebrae-style cable spine to hide the cords from the desk down to the wall, which made a huge difference since her desk sits in the middle of the room. If you take your time, plan your routing, and start fresh, you can make your setup look cleaner, feel more productive, and actually use your standing desk the way it’s supposed to be used.
