About This Video

In this video I take a close look at the LTC Sound Slave 502 wireless gaming headset, the follow-up to LTC’s 501, and I run through a quick unboxing, setup, comfort, controls, sound quality, and a mic test. Out of the box you get the headset, a detachable mic, USB-C dongle for 2.4GHz, USB-C extension, and charging cable. First impressions: these look great—clean all-black with minimal branding—and they honestly feel more premium than I expected for the price. The ear cups rotate so they lay flat on your desk, and the padding feels super soft and “luxury” to the touch. For comfort, I can safely say these are the most comfortable headphones I’ve worn for extended gaming sessions. The headband doesn’t rub my head (and I’m bald), and the ear cups stay breathable and cool. Sound-wise, the 40mm drivers come across punchy and clear with solid bass and good detail in-game, and I didn’t notice lag on the wireless. My big gripe is the ANC: I prefer it off because with it on I heard a hum and the sound got hollower. Mic quality is passable—better with the detachable mic close to my mouth—but not as clear as I’d like. Still, at under $60, I absolutely recommend them for the comfort, wireless features, and battery life.
