Hello everyone, Sheltech here. In this video I unbox and set up the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACS, a 27-inch QHD (2560x1440) fast IPS gaming monitor that pushes up to 180Hz. I walk through what you actually get in the box (including that ASUS pouch), how the stand snaps together in a few steps, and then I tour the build—thin bezels, the joystick + button cluster (which I love because you’re not hunting for controls), VESA support, cable management, and even the quarter-inch thread up top for a webcam or mic. After that, I break down the specs and real-world performance: 180Hz, 1ms, VRR with FreeSync + G-Sync compatibility, DisplayHDR 400, and very strong color coverage (97% DCI-P3 / 133% sRGB). Out of the box, color accuracy in sRGB mode is very good, and at 27 inches the 1440p sharpness (about 109 PPI) makes text, UI, and game details look crisp. My main callouts are the typical fast IPS tradeoffs—contrast and black levels aren’t OLED/VA level, and HDR won’t have that “premium” pop without local dimming—but for sub-$300 gaming and mixed use, I still rate it a strong value at an 8/10.
