About This Video

In this video, I show you how to make a Tyla-style Amapiano x RnB type beat from scratch in FL Studio 2025. We start by setting the tempo (I usually stay around 110–150, and I went around 118–120 for this vibe), then I build the drums with a simple kick rhythm—but I’m not trying to run the same kick all through, so I layer two different kicks with different character to get that bounce. From there I add claps, then I go percussion-heavy (because I like my Amapiano to feel busy and fun), plus shaker loops layered low so they add groove without taking over. After the drums, I move into chords using an electric piano. I keep it simple with the 1-3-5 shape, then I stretch the chord over two bars (that Tyla/RnB feel), add extensions like the 7th, and voice the chords so they sound more exciting. I also strum the chords (Alt/Option + S), control the bass-note velocity, and layer airy textures using Augmented Mallet, then add an ambience melody, a pad, and a lead line—soft, vibey sounds with character. Finally, I create bass options (a groovy one and a simpler one), then add a log drum pattern and even layer it with a sub for that deep feeling. I end by arranging the beat properly (intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, outro) and show you how I build sections by borrowing from the chorus and taking out elements so everything develops naturally.
