In this video, I show you how to mix and master vocals in FL Studio step by step, especially if you’re doing cover songs or demo tracks and you don’t want it to sound like “just a cover.” I start from clean exported vocals (no effects) so you have full control, then I set the project tempo properly (I use Detect Tempo, and I also show you how to confirm tempo/key with a free analyzer like tunebat). After that, I route my lead and double into a lead vocal bus so the session stays organized and you can move fast without stress. From there, I tune the vocals first (I use Waves Tune Realtime and I tune each vocal separately—not on the bus). Then I EQ with a high-pass (usually 80–150 Hz as a guide), remove harsh resonances by sweeping, and compress for consistency (I recommend about 3–7 dB gain reduction). I also de-ess (FabFilter Pro-DS), do a second EQ with Waves Scheps EQ to fix boxiness, and add serial compression with CLA-2A for more control and that brighter/punchy character. Finally, I add width (Stereo Enhancer), a touch of Hyper Chorus for silky highs, and a lush reverb send (Pro-R2) using tempo-based pre-delay/decay, then I master with Pro-L2 and a loudness meter, aiming around -7 to -10 LUFS with true peak around -1 dB to avoid digital clipping.
