About This Video

In this video, I showed you how to make a Ghana highlife / guitar Afrobeat (Wizkid type vibe) in FL Studio from scratch, step by step. I kept the tempo on the festive side at 115 BPM, then I started with the guitar using my Ahiri Afro Guitar Pack. I pulled in the full mix to preview, then I went straight to the stems (chord, muted, and riff) so we can build around the exact pocket. From there, I created a simple rimshot rhythm first, then built the drums gradually—kick selection (hard but not too hard), layering percussion, adding a clap, fixing timing, and adjusting velocities so everything feels natural and bouncy. After the groove was solid, I processed the guitar properly: I shaved off low end with EQ, tamed the sharpness, added Fruity Reverb for space, and used Fruity Chorus (under flanger) lightly for width. Then I created chords with Lounge Lizard (soft electric piano vibe), using snap-to-scale in G# minor, and I strummed/randomized velocity to make it feel human. I added a plucky counter melody, a classic highlife flute/ocarina line in Purity, a bell layer, then finished with a groovy bass (Trilian) plus a supporting sub (Analogy/Expand) with a bit of saturation. Finally, I broke everything into a simple 8-bar arrangement (intro, hook, verse, pre-hook, outro) and I emphasized one thing: don’t treat your intro last—your intro is the first impression of the song.
