About This Video

In this video I show you how to make a guitar Afrobeats beat in FL Studio from scratch, Wizkid type vibe. I start by picking a guitar loop from my Ahiri Afro Guitar Pack (premium section), then I pull in the matching stems—lead and riff—so everything is already organized and easy to build with. From there, I focus on the most important part: finding the correct chord progression so you can layer melodies without guessing. I use Sky Keys to test chords, keep snap to scale on, and I move up and down the octaves until the progression locks in (we’re in E major). After the chords are set, I layer an electric piano (Lounge Lizard) to add presence, then I fix harshness by reducing velocity (Alt+X) and strumming slightly (Alt+S). I add ambience, then a darker/emotional string idea—switching sounds until it fits the mood (I ended up preferring a Triton string). Finally, I build the low end with a heavy sub (Analog Lab “dark sub”) and a second pick-style bass for groove, then I bring in vocal phrases and transpose them properly (C# to E = +300 cents). Once all the elements are in, I arrange it into a full beat and you can hear everything come together.
