In this video, I showed you how to make an Afrobeat x Afroswing type beat in FL Studio from A to Z—drums, melodies, bass, and arrangement. I also made it more emotional on purpose, just to prove a point: Afroswing doesn’t always have to be heavy and hard. Once we set the tempo (Afroswing is typically around 96–105 BPM, and I went around 97 BPM for that emotional feel), I built the core groove with a punchy kick, snare/rim style hits, hats, and percussions to lock in that bounce. After the drums, I moved into chords using FL Studio stock sounds like the Electric Piano, then layered it to get a fuller vibe (and I even rendered a layer to save CPU). I showed you how I think about key/scale, transposing, and adding counter melodies with stock plugins, plus ambience using Sakura and a slept-on plugin like Kepler. Then we added bass (including a simple sub with 3xOsc) and made it more interesting with slides. Finally, I arranged the beat properly—intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus—working backwards from the chorus, borrowing 3–4 elements so the sections feel similar but not identical, then finishing with vocal chops, simple pitch shifting, and a harder snare for impact.
