Along the Avenue of the Giants, the road parallels U.S. Highway 101 through Humboldt Redwoods State Park, offering close-range views of massive trunks, narrow clearings, and alluvial flats. Farther north, the drive continues into Redwood National Park, where forest density, elevation changes, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean influence vegetation and light conditions.
