Scenic Drive from Canyon de Chelly to Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona

This long-format video follows the scenic drive from Canyon de Chelly National Monument to Petrified Forest National Park in northeastern Arizona. The route captures the gradual transition between landscapes shaped by high desert plateaus, Navajo Nation open range, volcanic soils, and the broad grasslands of the Painted Desert. In spring, the scenery along this route begins to shift from winter dormancy into early seasonal color. Desert grasses appear softer and greener, scattered sagebrush takes on brighter tones, and depending on moisture from late winter storms, small pockets of wildflowers may appear along the roadside. Temperatures in spring are generally mild, making this one of the most comfortable seasons to travel through the region before the stronger heat of summer arrives. The video continues into Petrified Forest National Park and includes the full scenic drive through the park. The road passes viewpoints overlooking the Painted Desert, eroded badlands, historic structures, petrified wood deposits, and colorful Chinle Formation landscapes. The depth of color in spring sunlight can reveal sharp contrasts between red, blue-gray, and pale lavender layers in the hills and mesas. Occasional cloud cover common in this season may soften the light and create broader, pastel-toned views across the desert.
