Hiking the Confluence Overlook Trail (Outbound) | Canyonlands Needles District | Full POV

This video documents the outbound section of a full point-of-view (POV) hike along the Confluence Overlook Trail in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, leading from the trailhead to the overlook above the meeting point of the Colorado River and the Green River. The trail is part of an out-and-back route totaling approximately 17.8 km (11 miles) round trip, with a cumulative elevation gain of about 530 meters (1,740 feet). The trailhead sits at an elevation of roughly 780 meters (2,560 feet) above sea level, and the route remains entirely on the mesa top without descending to river level. The outbound hike crosses classic Colorado Plateau terrain, including slickrock sections, sandy stretches, shallow drainages, and sparsely vegetated desert surfaces. As the hike progresses toward the overlook, expansive views open across deeply incised canyons shaped by long-term erosion. This video covers the approach to the overlook and documents trail conditions, terrain, and landscape scale during the outward leg of the hike.
