Hiking Monument Canyon Trail (Lower to Upper Trailhead) | Colorado National Monument | 4K HDR

This video documents a hike along the Monument Canyon Trail in Colorado National Monument, covering the section between the Lower Monument Canyon Trailhead and the Upper Monument Canyon Trailhead near Rim Rock Drive. The route climbs through Monument Canyon from the lower trailhead at approximately 1,442 meters (4,731 feet) to the upper trailhead at about 1,866 meters (6,122 feet), covering roughly 9.4 km (5.8 miles) one way. The trail passes beneath several of the monument’s most recognizable sandstone formations, including Independence Monument, Kissing Couple, and the Coke Ovens. The route follows classic Colorado Plateau desert terrain with Wingate sandstone canyon walls, narrow ledges, sandy washes, and sparse desert vegetation. Filmed in real time, the video presents an objective record of trail conditions, elevation change, and the canyon landscape along one of the most iconic hiking routes in Colorado National Monument.
