Hiking California's Redwood Backcountry (Part 1) | Ridge Ascent from Redwood Creek | 4K HDR

This video documents the first half of a long backcountry hike in Redwood National and State Parks near Orick, California, following sections of the Orick Horse Trail network associated with the Ridge Loop. The route begins near sea level in the Redwood Creek area and climbs steadily through dense redwood forest, transitioning from lower-elevation creekside environments into steeper ridge terrain. This section includes long sustained ascents, shaded old-growth and second-growth redwood stands, and occasional openings with partial views toward the Pacific coast and Orick Valley. By the end of this segment, the trail approaches mid-to-high elevation ridge terrain (around 350–380 m), marking the transition from forested ascent to more exposed ridge travel. Filmed in real time in 4K HDR, this is a silent hiking video with natural forest sounds only, without narration or music.
