About This Video

The Canning Stock Route is the longest stock route in the world and, honestly, it’s as remote as it gets—about 1850km of proper testing country. In this video I finally roll into Wiluna after months of planning, load up the Cruisers with a combined 730L of diesel, and make sure we’ve got enough water to stay alive out there (because fuel keeps you moving, but water keeps you breathing). We kick off at Well 1, settle into the first camp, then hit Day One properly—rocky, rutted, dusty, and already slower than we expected. Then, about 30km in, we nearly lose a vehicle to something you’d never plan for: a magnifying mirror. Sienna was doing her eyelashes, the sun lined up just right, and it literally started burning the interior—plastic everywhere. I replicate it with a post-it note to prove how fast it happens, tape the mirror up, and the lesson is simple: one stupid little thing can end your trip (or worse) in seconds. From there it’s tire pressures, tricky off-camber sections, convoy spacing for dust, and the reality check that the CSR doesn’t care about your schedule—if you underestimate it, it’ll chew your plan up quick.
