About This Video

In this one I’m basically fixing my stuff up on the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster — and it didn’t go to plan. You already know I’d done the bullbar, tyres, wrap, tray and winch, but since then I’ve added a heap more: 180% extra fuel capacity, integrated lights, and a 2-inch lift with a GVM upgrade. The big missing piece was the full canopy, and I was keen as to get it on before heading off soon — but I rushed a decision early on and tried a cheaper “band-aid” lift. Turns out the spring rate just wasn’t up to the weight, and I ended up cancelling a trip, pulling the canopy back off, and waiting for the proper suspension to arrive. Once the JAX GVM suspension went in (with heavier springs and airbags), I got to properly test what adjustable shocks actually do — and for the first time I’m a fan, because I can adjust it from inside the cab. I ran tests at different settings and found my Goldilocks off-road setting (12) felt magic on high-speed gravel, washouts and potholes. Then I explain the GeForce mode: a sensor under the seat actively changes shock behaviour side-to-side as you corner or swerve, which massively improved stability and reduced body roll — even with roughly 700 kg added to the rear once the canopy was on. It’s not a free pass to drive like a lunatic, but the difference inside the car is night and day.
